A federal judge has refused to dismiss the mortgage fraud case against former Jackson County Executive Katheryn Shields.
The judge says there is nothing materially false or misleading in the document Shields signed to close the sale of her home. But he says prosecutors should have a chance to prove that she knew the price of $1.2-Million had been inflated and had been established fraudulently.
