Governor Matt Blunt has signed into law House Bill 453 , which authorizes income tax credits for donations to local food pantries.  It would allow taxpayers to claim a tax credit of 50 percent for the value of food or money contributed to food pantries.  The total amount of tax credits issued each year will be limited to $2-Million.

The bill also revises the Residential Treatment Agency Tax Credit so that eligible donations to a state agency that provides residential treatment to children can include monetary gifts, publicly traded stocks and bonds, and real estate. The law takes effect August 28th.

The Governor also conducted a ceremonial signing of Senate Bill 284 , which provides Missourians with greater choices in cable services.  The bill had previously officially been signed into law.  To coincide with the cable bill signing, AT&T announced it plans to invest about $335-Million over the next three years in fiber network upgrades and other new technology on a statewide basis.
