Bells Ring Out In Reverence of Virginia Tech Victims

April 20, 2007 By admin Leave a Comment

The bells of St. Peter’s Church rang out over the state Capitol lawn at 11 this morning to mark a period of mourning for the 32 people who lost their lives at the hands of a student gunman at Virginia Tech Monday. Governor Blunt has announced that today is a statewide day of mourning in honor of those who died, after Virginia Governor Timothy Kaine requested governors throughout the nation to dedicate the day to the Blacksburg victims. Kaine referred to the tragedy as a senseless shooting. Blunt echoed Kaine’s sentiments and called residents to lift their voices in prayer for those affected by the horrible tragedy.
