Tuesday afternoon was the same old story for the Cardinals.  They cannot win at home and cannot find a way to score runs.

The Birds 6-1 loss to the Pirates dropped St. Louis’ home record to just 1-6 this season.

Pittsburgh lefty Tom Gorzelanny held the Redbirds to just one run on four hits in his eight and a third innings of work, while Cards’ starter Adam Wainright struggled right from the get-go.

Two first-inning Cardinal errors confounded Wainright’s walk to Pirates’ leadoff hitter Chris Duffy, who came around to score following Jack Wilson’s single and Preston Wilson’s fielding error.  Shortstop David Eckstein’s blunder later in the inning also contributed to a Pirate run.

St. Louis is in San Francisco today, where they will begin a five-game road trip later this evening.  First pitch is scheduled for 9:15.
