The University of Missouri Board of Curators, meeting in Rolla, has appointed Gordon Lamb the Interim President of the University of Missouri system.

Lamb is a veteran educator and former college president who served as interim chancellor of the University of Missouri-Kansas City from February of 1999 to March of 2000. In addition to UMKC, Lamb also served as a Vice President and professor in the University of Texas System, as President of Northeastern Illinois University, and as an interim Chancellor and a professor in the University of Wisconsin System.

Lamb realizes this new job is not a permanent post, saying he will be working hard to help find a new permanent president. The Columbia resident will be paid at the rate of $382,000 annually, approximately the same salary paid to the departing President Elson Floyd. Floyd will assist Lamb and the Board of Curators in finding a permanent president. Lamb officially begins his new duties on Monday.
