Royals Offense Comes Up Short

April 5, 2007 By admin Leave a Comment

The Royals’ bats could not solve the mystery that was Josh Beckett last night.  The big right-hander tossed five strong innings and allowed just one run in the Red Sox’s 7-1 win over KC.

Kansas City’s offense could muster just three hits on the night, frequently looking off-guard and striking out eight times as a team.  First baseman Ross Gload had two of the team’s hits.

Royals’ starter Odalis Perez struggled his way through five and a third innings, giving up five hits, three walks and four runs.  He took the loss.

This afternoon, the two teams will conclude the three game series.  Japanese import Daisuke Matsuzaka will make his much-anticipated major league debut. The Royals will throw Zack Grienke, the one-time top prospect who put together a very good spring.
