NFL says no thanks to Thanksgiving in KC

March 27, 2007 By admin Leave a Comment

Despite heavy lobbying, the Chiefs were not granted another Thanksgiving Day game for this season. Kansas City hosted the Denver Broncos on turkey day last year. Team chairman Clark Hunt desperately wanted to bring the game back this season and is interested in making the game an annual event at Arrowhead Stadium.

The NFL awarded the Atlanta Falcons the Thanksgiving Day game instead. They’ll host the World Champion Indianapolis Colts.

Hunt isn’t giving up on his efforts to bring the game to Arrowhead permanently.

"I think that’s something we’ll be revisiting down the road," Hunt said at the annual NFL meetings. "The game was so incredibly successful in Kansas City. We don’t know how successful it’s going to be when t goes to another market. "
