A day that began with violent confrontations between a man and police officers in Newton and McDonald Counties that resulted in the wounding of two police officers has ended with the man’s capture.

Newton and McDonald County officials are releasing no details about the arrest of Adam Daniel Bridgewater.

Newton County sheriff Ken Copeland says a Neosho officer learned a man he had stopped was wanted, but the man opened fire on him and another officer who had answered a call for help before driving away. Both officers were wounded.

Copeland says Bridgewater also exchanged gunshots with pursuing Highway Patrolmen….and exchanged shows with McDonald County officers afer he wrecked his car.

He was caught about 12 hours after the first shooting.

One of the Neosho officers is hospitalized with a wound to his face. The other one has been released after treatment for an arm wound.
