St. Louis School Board Reverses Irons Firing Decision

March 7, 2007 By admin Leave a Comment

He was out. Now, apparently, he can come back in.

The St. Louis School Board has voted, in closed session, to reverse a July decision to fire Vashon High School basketball coach Floyd Irons. The Board relieved Irons of his position as Athletic Director and coach after an internal audit found that Vashon’s basketball program had spent thousands of dollars without authorization for such things as a scoreboard, uniforms and a custom gym floor.

Irons remained on the payroll as a teacher. Irons has declined to comment on the latest move. He has not taught this school year, because of health reasons.
