MU Women Lose Big 12 Tourney Opener

March 7, 2007 By admin Leave a Comment

Eetisha Riddle scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds, but the senior’s work was all for naught, as the Missouri Tigers fell to the Texas Longhorns 70-57 in a first-round game at the Big 12 Tournament.

The MU forward’s big night enabled her to become the 25th player in school history to eclipse the 1,000 point mark in a career.  She is the fifth Tiger in the club to play at least two seasons for Head Coach Cindy Stein.

Mizzou shot just 37 percent from the field, compared to Texas’ 61 percent.  MU trailed by as many as 23 points in the first half.

The loss practically ends any hopes of an NCAA Tournament appearance for the Tigers.  The WNIT seeds are announced Monday.
