The legislative session is nearing its halfway point, and the full Senate has yet to deal with SB 389 , a bill authorizing the sale of assets of MOHELA – the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority.

Senator Gary Nodler of Joplin, the sponsor of the legislation, says the Senate should not be expected to act until some clarification comes from the House and from the Governor’s office.  He expects a supplemental budget request from the House and a list of specific building projects from the Governor.

Nodler expects quite a bit of debate on the proposal, and he believes the legislation will clear the Senate. He says any Senator with a substantial construction project in his or her district would be putting him or herself in a difficult political position by obstructing this legislation.
