Missouri is trying to make it easier for small businesses to do business.  A joint announcement by Governor Matt Blunt and Secretary of State Robin Carnahan unveils the Missouri Business Portal , which is described as a one-stop access point for business owners to interact with support agencies within state government.

The Governor says the one-stop-shop idea will help ease the burden on a lot of businesses trying to get off the ground or expand by allowing them easy access to forms and documents needed.

Secretary Carnahan says the idea came from listening to the concerns of small business owners looking for elimination of some of the red tape.

The Missouri Business Portal is organized into four main categories for users: Research, Register, Maintain, and Resources.

The Research section allows business owners to research ideas and obtain assistance in writing business plans.  The Register section guides business owners through the processes and contact points to the required registration forms.  The Resources section helps businesses maintain growth by providing access to information about raising capital, market development, employee concerns, and environmental compliance.  The Maintain section provides information that helps with filings, taxes, employee issues, and steps required to end a business.
