Willard native B.J. Flores has fought hard to get where he is now in his career. As a cruiserweight boxer, Flores will find himself mentioned among the sport’s best when he is expected to be ranked 12 th in the world by the International Boxing Federation later this week.

Flores so desperately wants to win a World Championship. It’s a long process that looks promising for the unbeaten fighter. With a record of 18-0-1, Flores has yet to taste defeat as a professional. His climb towards a championship will continue when he fights Pat Nwamu (12-1) on March 2 in Boise, Idaho.

"It’s a gradual, progressive process," Flores said.

Flores beat Chris Thomas on a unanimous, 12-round decision in the first 12-round fight of his career. Flores is hoping to win the title as a cruiserweight before moving up to heavyweight.
