Missouri Economic Development Director Greg Steinhoff says his department’s Division of Workforce Development will move quickly to try to find work for those losing their jobs by helping to put the displaced workers in touch with other automobile manufacturing opportunities in the area. Steinhoff says the department is already engaging in talks with DaimlerChrysler to take part in the effort to find employment for those who will be out of work as of the second quarter of next year.
Minivans are made at the Fenton facility. Higher gas prices have resulted in consumers buying more fuel efficient vehicles, leading to weaker demand for minivans and other Chrysler products.
