The Blues almost erased all of a 4-0 deficit, but fell a goal short losing to San Jose 6-5 at home Tuesday night.
The Sharks opened up with four consecutive goals. They later led 5-1 and took a 6-3 lead into the third period. Christian Backman cut the Sharks lead to 6-5 with a score off the rebound of Bill Guerin’s shot with 14:03 left in the final period. But that’s as close as the Blues would get.
Guerin posted a hat trick for St. Louis, giving him 25 goals on the year. It was the seventh NHL hat trick in his career. Keith Tkachuk also scored for the Blues.
