DNA could solve St. Louis County murder

February 12, 2007 By admin Leave a Comment

A hair fiber inside a baseball cap found next to a murder victim in 2000 leads St. Louis County investigators to the county jail in Austin, Texas, where they have arrested Derrick Luster.

DNA in the hair matches a sample in a national DNA database. Luster is being held in Texas on a murder charge. Now he is charged with murdering a woman during a failed carjacking attempt at a St. Louis County mall in August of 2000.

Investigators say DNA found under the woman’s fingernails also matches Luster’s DNA.
