The Hearnes Center on the MU campus has seen its share of action over the past 35 years.  But last night featured a first.  The multi-purpose building hosted the inaugural Beauty and the Beast exhibition.

The event not only showcased Mizzou’s "beastly" wrestling squad but the "beautiful" MU gymnastics team.  The twist?  The two teams took the floor at the same time, each hosting their opponent at opposite ends of the floor.

Both events ended in a Tiger sweep.  The No. 2 MU wrestling squad dominated Northern Iowa 36-13, while the 19th-ranked gymnastics team beat Southeast Missouri State 194.775-192.700.

Among the wrestling victors for Mizzou were Ben Askren (#1 at 174 pounds), Maxwell Askren (#1 at 197 pounds) and Raymond Jordan (#5 at 184 pounds).

In the gymnastics win, MU’s Adrianne Perry won the all-around crown thanks to a score of 39.500.  The mark represented not only a personal best for the sophomore, but the fifth-best score in school history.
