Saint Louis University made the trip to Cincinnati for its game against Xavier, but apparently forgot to bring their defense with them. The Musketeers broke open a close game in the second half shooting 60 percent from the field and dismissing the Billikens 76-57 Wednesday night.

Xavier held a 32-28 lead at halftime, but came out of the gate and nearly doubled their 39 percent first half shooting. Justin Doellman made all three of his 3-point attempts en route to a game-high 24 points and Stanley Burrell added 19 for the Musketeers.

"Our defense has been here and there all year," SLU coach Brad Soderberg said. "Today, it was there. We will go back to work tomorrow to get it fixed."

The Billikens weren’t much better on offense either. Ian Vouyoukas was held to just eight points and only played 19 minutes. SLU only received a combined 24 points from its top two scorers. Kevin Lisch scored 14 points while Tommie Liddell added 10.

It’s back to the drawing boards for the Billikens, who could have taken a big step towards contending for the Atlantic-10 regular season crown with a win. SLU has a week off before they play conference-leading Rhode Island Wednesday.
