Ameren Seeks Change of Venue in Taum Sauk Lawsuit

February 5, 2007 By admin Leave a Comment

AmerenUE is asking that a lawsuit over the collapse of the Taum Sauk reservoir be heard in Reynolds County instead of in St. Loius, where Ameren has its headquarters. The reservoir and the state park badly damaged by water after the collapse are in Reynolds County. Company lawyers who have filed a change of venue request say Attorney General Jay Nixon made a mistake by filing the suit in St. Louis instead of in the county where the damage occurred. Nixon says he filed the suit in St. Louis because that’s where decisions affecting Taum Sauk power plant operations were made.
