One former and two current Truman State University football players have been indicted on charges of assault by an Adair County grand jury.

The three men are accused of beating up two Kirksville residents in December 2005. According to Prosecuting Attorney Mark Williams, all three defendants have pleaded not guilty.

Joshua Kilcrease is accused of hitting Ted Tarrant with his car in the parking lot of the Wooden Nickel. Kilcrease faces two felony counts for assault and armed criminal action.

Tarrant claims that once he was hit by the car, Kilcrease along with Paul Darby and Darnell Williams began to assault him and owner of the restaurant Dan Vogt.

All three suspects are free on bond. They are scheduled to receive a trial setting when they appear in court again on March 5.
