Missouri Western State women?s basketball team tied a school-record with 21 consecutive wins after beating Southwest Baptist 83-73 Tuesday night.

No team in Griffons women?s basketball history has won as many games in a row except for the 1993-94 squad that reached that mark under former coach Jeff Mittie.

?I didn?t know all these records existed actually,? Coach Chemia Woods said.

While the 21 wins don?t set the mark for victories in succession, they are the most wins any women?s basketball team at MO Western has opened the season with.

Western will try to break the record with its 22nd consecutive victory on Saturday at Emporia State.
