Franklin County Sheriff Gary Toelke will investigate how a newspaper reporter was able to get into the jail for two 15-minute inverviews with Michael Devlin, the man charged with kidnapping two eastern Missouri boys. The reporter claimed to be a friend of Devlin’s and never identified herself as a reporter. The reporter worked for the New York Post. Articles this weekend quote Devlin saying he has not been visited by his parents and doesn’t know how he’d explain himself to his parents if they did visit … and that he’s lonely … that was “never really interested” in romantic relationships. He refused specific comments about his case. Devlin’s lawyers are irate and are demanding their client be moved to a more secure jail.
