Senator Christopher Bond assures he will solicit “bi-partisan support” to fight the bi-partisan resolution several members of the Senate formally introduced Wednesday. The non-binding resolution is the latest push to limit President’s Bush power to send troops to Iraq – which has been gaining steam throughout Congress. Bond says leading officials throughout the intelligence community have said the resolution would be a disaster, calling the prospect of troop withdrawal in Iraq a catastrophe that would lead to the collapse of Iraqi security forces and the Iraqi government. Bond says he’s prepared to do whatever it takes to generate votes that oppose the resolution. Bond says if the leadership wants Congress to move foward quickly, then he advises legislators not to try and handcuff the President.
