Cardinals center fielder Jim Edmonds accepted a two-year extension from the team and now he’s recovering from surgery. Edmonds underwent an operation on his left foot last Friday. He’s also trying to bounce back from shoulder surgery that will keep him from playing in the Grapefruit League until late in spring training.

Edmonds suffered the injury to the second toe on his left foot at some point last season. He was dealing with the pain when he led the team with 10 RBI during the postseason.

The Gold Glover had a pin placed in his toe during the operation performed by Dr. Bob Anderson in Charlotte, N.C. Edmonds is expected to be ready to play by opening day.
