“I think we were a little rusty to start the meet.”

Those were the words of Missouri gymnastics coach Rob Drass after his 18th ranked Tigers finished a disappointing fourth in the Cancun Classic in Cancun, Mexico, last night.

MU finished its season opener with a score of 194.025. No. 13 Iowa State took the top spot with a 195.650. 20th-ranked Auburn and BYU finished second and third, respectively.

Juniors Ashley Khederian and Katie Kluga turned in a pair of 9.675s on the bars to start the meet for the Tigers, who finished with a 47.550 in that event. On the beam, sophomore Adrianne Perry scored a 9.825 to pace the team.

Mizzou posted a 48.575 on the floor and a 48.750 on the vault to finish out its season debut. The Tigers will host Illinois this Friday to open the home portion of their schedule.
