Chiefs Keep Slim Playoff Hopes Alive

December 25, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The Raiders were trying to play the role of spoiler, but Larry Johnson and Jarrad Page would have none of it. Johnson rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown, while Page had a sack and two interceptions in Kansas City’s 20-9 victory in the Black Hole.

Oakland’s playoff hopes were dead long ago, but the Chiefs are still mathematically alive. They’ll need a win and some help in the final week of the regular season, when they close out their schedule against Jacksonville.

After Oakland took an early 3-0 lead, QB Trent Green hit WR Eddie Kennison for a six-yard touchdown. The teams traded field goals before Johnson powered his way into the endzone from a yard out, giving Kansas City a 17-6 lead at halftime.

The Chiefs’ defense forced five turnovers, four of which came out of the hands of Raiders’ QB Andrew Walter. KC also sacked Walter four times.
