The families of five people killed in last month’s fire that swept through the Anderson Guest House in southwest Missouri have filed wrongful death lawsuits against the facility and its operators. The suits claim Joplin River of Life Ministries, its owners, and its administrator did not do enough to keep the residents safe. Three former residents who were injured in the November 27th fire have also filed negligence suits. All the suits allege Joplin River of Life Ministries failed to repair the known maintenance problems that existed in the building, which did not have a sprinkler system. Eleven people were killed and more than 20 others injured in the fire. Investigators believe improper wiring might be to blame, but the exact cause has not yet been determined.
