Time-Pressed Holiday Shoppers Should Remember to Take Time Outs

December 21, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

Lightening those last-minute loads is what rehabilitation specialists suggest for holiday shoppers… especially those who suffer from arthritis and want to lessen aches and pains from shopping fatigue. University of Missouri arthritis specialists say a quick five minute rest for every half hour of shopping can significantly reduce pain and fatigue from shopping. Research Specialist Kathy Donovan Hanson says shopping bags can cause pain to flare up in the hands. She suggests shoppers experiencing stiffness in their hands to slide bags up over their lower arms to cut down on griping fatigue. She says making frequent trips to the car to drop off shopping backs is another way to cut down on the load.
