The 26th Edition of the Braggin’ Rights game was a first, of sorts. It was Mike Anderson’s first encounter with Illinois as Tiger Head Coach. It was also the first time several young players on each team had the chance to experience the rivalry. But unfortunately for Mizzou fans, the result was anything but a first.

Illinois’ big men led the way in their team’s 73-70 victory over MU last night. Center Shaun Pruitt poured in a career-high 19 points while grabbing nine rebounds, and forward Brian Randle finished with ten points and seven boards.

The win was the Illini’s seventh straight in the series. The Tigers have not won since defeating Illinois 78-72 in 1999.

Mizzou guard Stefhon Hannah had a chance to force overtime with two seconds left to play in regulation, but fumbled the ball away to Illinois, ending any hope of a Tiger comeback. Hannah led his team with 23 points.
