The Governor’s Office says as the state looks at revamping Medicaid it’s the acting pioneer for healthcare models nationwide. The Departments of Health, Social Services, and Mental Health focus on preventive healthcare in their proposal to Governor Matt Blunt. Jessica Robinson says Blunt thinks the state’s in a position where Missouri can become an innovative leader in healthcare deliver. She says the recommendations are in line with Governor Blunt’s idea of moving away from a payer of services program that pays the bills after a member suffers a crisis and toward a plan that continually aims to improve the health of those it serves. Blunt will submit his proposal to the legislature on New Year’s.
