Southeast Missouri State senior Lachelle Lyles grabbed a career-high 32 rebounds to go along with 13 points in the Redhawks 67-53 win over Tennessee State. The Redhawks improved to 3-3 while winning their Ohio Valley Conference opener.

Lyles 32 boards are a school and conference single-game record. Her total ranks fourth all-time in NCAA Division I history, the most since Maureen Formanico grabbed 33 for Pepperdine in 1985.

Missy Whitney also had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Sonya Dougherty pitched in a career-high 13 points.

SEMO plays again Saturday at Tennessee Tech.

On the men’s side, another player set a new career-high. This time it was not a Redhawk who did it. Larry Turner poured in a career-best 22 points as Tennessee State beat SEMO 75-72.

Marcus Rhodes led the way for four SEMO players in double-figure scoring. Rhodes finished with 17 points, Brandon Faust scored 14, David Johnson pitched in 13, and Terrick Willoughby added 10.

Willoughby held the ball for a game-tying shot at the end, but was stripped by Moraye Ivy to end the game.
