It’s been Murphy’s Law for the Blues this season. Coming off a disastrous 2005 campaign, 2006 is shaping up to be much better. The Blues are in last-place again, and now the injury bug is getting hungry.

Starting goalie Curtis Sanford tore his groin last Friday against Chicago and is expected to miss six to eight weeks. Now St. Louis is down another goaltender after Wednesday’s practice. Just 10 minutes into the session, Manny Legace took a shot to his mask and was knocked out for 30 seconds. He was sent to the hospital and placed on injured reserve where he’ll have to sit out a minimum of seven days.

Jason Bacashihua is the next man in line. He was only with the team on an “emergency basis” but drastic times cause for drastic measures. He’ll make the start tonight against Detroit. Blues top pick in 2004, Marek Schwartz, will be the backup.
