Power Being Restored – Gradually

December 5, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The work goes on in the eastern part of the state as electric utility AmerenUE tries to restore power to customers who are still without electricity following last week’s Winter storm. Ameren’s Susan Gallagher, in St. Louis, says most of the outages it’s dealing with are across the Mississippi River in Illinois. As of 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, 170,000 of the company’s customers on both sides of the border were still without electricity – about 80,000 of those customers in Missouri. Gallagher says good progress is being made, and that Ameren hopes to have most of the power restored by late Wednesday. She cautions, however, that full power will probably not be restored before Friday.
