IRS Wants to Pay Out $900,000 in Christmas Bonuses

December 4, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

If you’re looking for a Christmas bonus the Internal Revenue Service might be able to cut you a check… of your own money. Odds are it will be about a $750 bonus. Spokesman Michael Devine says 1,185 Missourians haven’t cashed in on their tax returns. Devine says the IRS owes Missouri residents close to $900,000, an average of about $750 per check. Residents can claim their checks by logging on to www.irs.gov or by calling toll-free 800-829-1040. Devine says just three pieces of information are needed to claim the checks: the primary social security number, filing status, and the refund amount shown on the tax return. Devine says any unclaimed checks will be added to next year’s tax returns.
