The Blues scheduled flight out of St. Louis was postponed yesterday due to the winter storm that rolled through most of Missouri. They did not land in the Windy City until 3 PM Friday afternoon. In retrospect, they would have been much better off just staying home.
St. Louis not only allowed five goals to hapless Chicago, they lost goaltender Curtis Sanford for what could be an extended period of time. The Blackhawks, who came into last night’s game second-to-last in goals scored, lit the lamp just 6:15 into the first period. On that play, Sanford crumpled to the ice in obvious pain. He had to be helped off afterwards.
Sanford’s injury was originally listed as a “leg injury.” After the game, Head Coach Mike Kitchen called it a groin problem. Manny Legace came in to replace Sanford. He allowed two goals on 27 shots.
