Saint Louis University was having a dream volleyball season. The Billikens won the Atlantic-10 Conference Tournament earning the school’s first ever trip to the NCAA Tournament. SLU’s dream turned into a nightmare last night as they were swept by 14th-seeded Purdue in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament 30-21, 30-20, 32-30.

Purdue started the match with a bang scoring the first six points of game one. The Billikens fought to within 11-7, but Purdue went on to score six of the next seven points to distance themselves and eventually take game one.

SLU held a brief lead in the third game, but the Boilermakers were too tough. Three players recorded nine kills for the Billikens. Sammi McCloud had 15 digs.

The Billikens finished the year 22-9.
