The Rams finally got back on the winning track and beat the 49ers for the first time since 2004.

Steven Jackson (23 car., 121 yds, 1 TD) converted two fourth-and-1 plays to keep the final drive alive. Marc Bulger was perfect on the drive that ended with Bulger connecting with Kevin Curtis on a 5-yard touchdown pass with 27-seconds to play. It was Bulger’s only TD pass of the game, but it came just in time. Just in time to give the Rams a 20-17 come from behind victory.

Bulger completed all nine of his passes for 66 yards on the winning drive. The sequence lasted 12 plays and totaled 80 yards. For the game, Bulger went 23-for-34 for 21 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.

The worst defense against the run gave up 171 yards to the 49ers. Frank Gore gained 134 on 21 carries becoming the fifth player in six weeks to rush for over 100 yards against the Rams.

The Niners came in winners of three straight. It looked like they would make it four in a row, but St. Louis’ defense came up with a big stop in the fourth quarter. Up 14-13 in the final quarter, San Francisco drove 75-yards on 13 plays and took 7 ½ minutes off the clock. On third-and-1 from the Rams 7, Michael Robinson was stuffed for no gain by Brandon Chillar and Raonall Smith. Joe Nedney came on for the field goal and made it from 24-yards out.

Robinson was in for Gore, who left the game with an injured right ankle.

San Francisco had one more chance to score after the Bulger-to-Curtis touchdown, but safety Oshiomogo Atogwe intercepted Alex Smith to end the game.
