Just as Black Friday – the day after Thanksgiving – is a vitally important day among brick and mortar retailers, Cyber Monday – the Monday after the holiday – has gained the same importance for online retailers. Dave Overfelt, President of the Missouri Retailers Association, says with each passing year there are more and more Americans doing their holiday shopping by logging onto the Internet. Overfelt says almost 52-Million people shopped online on Cyber Monday, 2005. He expects an estimated 61-Million to shop online today – many of them shopping from work during their lunch hours and during breaks. Overfelt says there are many reasons for the increase in the popularity of online shopping, including a desire by some Americans to avoid the hustle and bustle of crowded malls and stores.
