The President of the St. Louis School Board has called for state intervention in the operations of the school system. Veronica O’Brien has not called for a state takeover, but says the state needs to step in if the district is going to improve. She has recommended a temporary suspension of the superintendent’s office. She says she’s not happy with the report given the State Board of Education by Superintendent Diana Bourisaw, who got her job because of O’Brien’s support. The St. Louis district has almsot 41,000 students.
