The Secretary of State’s official election web site says all of the precincts are in from last Tuesday’s election. But that does not mean we have final vote totals. The Kansas City Elections Board says 293 absentee ballots cast before the polls closed last week will not be counted because they did not arrive in the mail until after the polls closed last Tuesday night. Board members say state law requires the ballots to be in their possession before poll-closing. The Board also is still considering 700 to 800 provisional ballots to see if they were cast by properly registered voters. Board officials say they’ll work through next weekend, if they must, to get them all counted. St. Louis County election officials are racing to get their uncounted votes done by the 21st, which is the state dealine for getting all votes counted. Thousands of absentee votes and provisional ballots remain uncounted. About 24,000 absentee and 5,000 provisional ballots were cast in St. Louis County.
