The job of elected mayor of St. Peters will remain unfilled until next April and then the elected mayor will serve only one year before having to run for the job again, if the mayor would want to keep it. Alderman Bruce Holt, a former state representative, has been the acting mayor since Shawn Brown resigned last month after pleading guilty to taking a bribe. The person elected mayor next spring will serve the remaining year of Brown’s term.
