The elections kept some legislators and replaced others… Director Sharon Feltman with the Missouri Association for Social Welfare says, whether freshman or incumbent, it’s time for legislators to address Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program before the state loses the programs in 2008. Medicaid restrictions already in effect have reduced eligibility for that program to just 22 percent of the public living in poverty. Feltman warns if the legislature doesn’t act in 2007, the public will lose its state-funded health insurance programs in June of 2008.
