The reigning National League Cy Young Award tossed eight shutout innings limiting the Tigers to three hits while striking out six in a 5-0 win for the Redbirds.Jim Edmonds got St. Louis on the board with a two-run double in the fourth inning. The Cardinals scored two more runs in the seventh before capping the night off with a run in the eighth. None of the three Tigers hits came from Placido Polanco, Ivan Rodriguez, or Curtis Granderson, who bat 1st, 3rd, and 6th in the lineup respectively. All three of those guys are hitless this series. Game 4 will be Wednesday barring the forecasted rain storm in the St. Louis area. If the rain delays, Jeff Suppan will start for the Birds against Jeremy Bonderman for Detroit.
