The Director of Medical Services at the State Department of Social Services is leaving. Dr. Mike Ditmore will retire, effective November first. Ditmore was appointed interim Medical director in February of 2005. He became the permanent director in July. Ditmore, a doctor who was in private practice as a neurosurgeon in Columbia from 1982 to 2004, came out of retirement to work for the state.
