The State Public Safety Department and the Missouri School Boards’ Association take to the Internet for a web-based panel discussion of how to prevent and deal with school violence. Much of the discussion involving a panel of educators and public safety officials centered on planning for an eventual incident. Public Safety Director Mark James says law enforcement and school officials must work together before something happens so that they will be better prepared to act when an incident takes place. The telecast came about as a result of the recent shootings at a Joplin middle school and at schools in several other states. It was intended for school officials, law enforcement, first responders, parents, and any other Missourians interested in keeping our schools safe.
