The Cardinals head into tonight’s NLCS series with the Mets having made a minor change to its roster.

Manager Tony LaRussa decided to include pitcher Anthony Reyes on the roster and leave off pitcher Jason Marquis. The move is puzzling because the two were switched during the previous series against the Padres. Prior to the beginning of the postseason, LaRussa went with Marquis over Reyes.

Reyes pitched the regular season finale against the Brewers, but never got out of the first inning, surrendering two homers. Four of the six batters he pitched to eventually scored. Reyes finished the season with a 5-8 record in 17 starts with a 5.06 ERA.

Marquis made 33 starts compiling a 14-16 record with a 6.02 ERA.
