The sound of Trent Green’s head bouncing off the turf after being hit by a Bengals defensive lineman was deafening. The silence of the Arrowhead crowd wondering who was next on the depth chart was louder.

Damon Huard was the name everyone in attendance was searching for. No one could come up with the answer because Huard had not completed a pass since 2000. Three starts later, Huard is 2-1 and the entire NFL is taking notice now. He passed for 288 yards and two touchdowns last week against Arizona earning himself the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award.

During the three starts, Huard has completed 73-of-104 passes for 769 yards and five scores, good enough for the second best passer rating in the league.

If Huard continues to play well in Green’s absence, it will be the roar of the Arrowhead crowd that is deafening.
