The Royals, the Royals, the Royals. *sigh*. Well, Kansas City looks to be headed towards their third straight 100-loss season after falling 3-2 to the Twins Tuesday. KC has five games left and needs to win out to avoid the century mark.

Kansas City actually built an early 2-1 lead against Twins starter Johan Santana. The game remained that way until Torii Hunter’s sacrifice fly in the sixth tied the game 2-2. Pinch-hitter Luis Rodriguez brought in the go-ahead run for Minnesota with a sac-fly in the eighth.

Santana settled down after giving up two runs. The Cy Young favorite got his 19th win this year allowing two runs on seven hits in eight innings of work. Joe Nathan walked two batters in the ninth, but recovered to get the save.

The Royals have lost eight in a row, six straight since the loss of their manager Buddy Bell.
