Democrats say Republican State Auditor Candidate Sandra Thomas should take action against a campaign worker who they claim did political work on state time. The State Democratic Party is taking direct aim at a favorite target, long-time Republican activist Daryl Duwe. The party claims Duwe composed a news release earlier this month while working at the office he occupies as Senator David Kindt’s chief-of-staff. Jack Cardetti, spokesman for the State Democratic Party, says that is a direct violation of the law that prohibits using state time and resources for political campaigns. Cardetti says that if Sandra Thomas lets her political staff use state resources without consequences, Missourians can have no confidence in her ability to be their next state auditor.Duwe declined to speak with the Missourinet about the allegation, except to say that he has broken no laws. A spokesman for the Thomas campaign says Duwe was hired as an independent contractor during the transition from the primary to the general election and no longer works for the campaign.
