Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Claire McCaskill has unveiled a middle-class tax cut plan – a plan she says will help Missouri’s middle-class families to reach their financial goals. McCaskill says it’s time hard-working Missourians got some help buying their first homes and paying for college. In vowing to fight for a tax policy she says will help all Missourians, not just millionaires, McCaskill criticized the Bush Administration and its tax policies. Part of McCaskill’s plan would see a doubling of tax breaks avaliable to families for childcare. Currently, the maximum tax credit for most middle-class families with two kids or more is $1,200. As for first-time homebuyers, McCaskill pledged to create a one-time tax credit of up to $3,000.
